Now that O/X button glyphs were added in 0.1.7 I just had a crazy idea: what if the glyphs could be customized to be displayed differently on your PICO-8 so that they could look like the buttons on whatever controller you are using? (or whatever keyboard keys you are using)

I realize that the O and X on the current glyphs are only 3x3 and that's not a lot of room to work with...anyway, thought I'd throw the idea out there just in case :)

If "customized" would be a bit much, It would probably be enough to have them different for the web player than for playing them through the Pico8 application.

(3px is enough to turn a O into a C)

lol oops I didn't realize I bumped this post! This is from over a year ago; you just reminded me of it with what you said in that other thread, apLundell, so I searched for this old thread and then I noticed it had a typo so I instinctively fixed it, which caused it to get bumped XD

Anyway yeah your idea is really similar but slightly different and really interesting! Except I think X and C would be a bit weird since it's really Z and X that are a pair, and C and V (and N and M) but C and V can both be drawn in 3x3 pixels! So I'm not sure how good it would look but I guess this would technically be feasible!
