I wanted to try something much smaller in scope this time around; A game I can finish in a considerably quicker time frame.
Why not Duck Hunt?
Pico Hunt aims to bring the best of the NES and arcade VS. game together into one whole experience!
What I have so far...
All music and sound effects are in
Almost all character art for the vanilla console experience. VS. mode art is in, too!
Title screen
Main menu screen, with a small nod to Duck Hunt Medley from Super Smash Bros. (Thanks go to Nathan Silver and their NES rendition of the song for the inspiration!)
Duck hunting game with background art by @HeyNetters , gameplay and rounds of increasing difficulty
Clay shooting screen with placeholder dev art, gameplay and rounds of increasing difficulty
Vs. mode gameplay for one or two players with high scores and a leaderboard
What is planned...
Full, end-to-end remakes of duck hunting and clay shooting modes, as well as the full VS. arcade gameplay experience, kept separate so the NES-style games can be played, too!
All graphics, hand drawn and higher res than the originals!
Possibly some extras!
Please give it a go and tell me what you think!
Check below for the change log
Happy Hunting!!

More ducks can be onscreen than before, and the round ends much faster with less dead air
(7/5/25)
Vs. mode has been added
play duck hunting, clay shooting and a bonus round in a loop of progressing difficulty.
Vs. mode doesn't use a quota system like the NES game, instead a missed target subtracts a life. zero lives and it's game over
every third loop is a frenzy round: three targets, three shots. don't miss.
scoring system is in place. A life is awarded for the first 45000 points, then every 90000 points after that
Added new buttons and menu behavior
The gamepad can control the duck in NES one duck mode
(6/8/25)
Added some polish to the main menu
