YouTube introduced user handles recently (somewhere around September/November 2022), making it possible for channels of any follower count (not just 100+) to have the username which starts with "at" ("@") character. For example this is my channel: https://www.youtube.com/@beetrootpaul

Sadly, Lexaloffle BBS profile doesn't allow to use "@", since it is just removing it: I type "@beetrootpaul" and save, then it changes to "beetrootpaul". In result URL of my YouTube channel is broken on BBS – it points to https://youtube.com/beetrootpaul

Agreed. Gold star to support this.

And if we're gonna talk about aliases not working properly on the BBS, @beetrootpaul, I would like to toss my hat in the arena and talk about aliases that have a space in them or a dash "-"

If you have an alias like, "Bob Thompson" or "Bob-Thompson" there is no way to use the "@" key to list them.

@bob.thompson
@bob thompson
@bobthompson
@bob_thompson
@bob-thompson

None of those work properly, getting the full true name of, "Bob Thompson" or "Bob-Thompson."

By being able to address someone in a post with "@" has a 2-fold benefit.

One it informs them via Email that someone did reply to their query.

And 2ndly someone can click right in the message on that link of their alias and bring them straight up to see what they've coded and written in messages - to relate it to the message they are reading.

So when you can't address someone they can miss out on important replies, especially if their questions were years old and someone finally got back to them.
