Not bad. A couple of improvements you could make:

  • You allow for illegal words which Wordle doesn't permit.

  • There is no difference in appearance between a letter that has yet to be checked and one that is not correct.

  • You could have an on-screen alphabet or keyboard showing which letters have been eliminated or are correct.

Must be a popular game, @galleywest. @scarecrw already wrote his version and only days before yours.

to see if someone had already written what you've done. I know the game field out there is pretty well saturated in all areas.

Occasionally though a unique and original game will appear in Pico-8, and I will always praise and comment to that.

I disagree with dw! It’s perfectly fine for many people to write a breakout, a tetris, a wordle, etc.
The goal is to learn and have fun, not to make just one of each thing.
