Guys! Portal 3 finally came ou-
I mean uh, look at this new game, Wormhole!

[punchline]

I take no credit for portals, the musical phrases, emancipation grills, or anything else Aperture Science would copyright me for.

could you make the x button jump

sincerely i dunno what to do when I grab the portal gun

Found the gun. Shot a wall. Portal opened. Shot another wall. Portal moved from first spot to the new one. Can't find any way to open second portal, ergo can't use it to go anywhere. Am trapped. Help.

Dude! Super awesome to see a Portal remake here on Pico-8. Congratulations on this!

Even though it's a very short game, took me a while to finish it. The portal gun controls and the fact that when you go from one room to another the portals are wiped out really hindered me, and looking at the other comments, that's a common problem.

I have two things to say about the design (and sorry to be so nosey, I just really like the idea and want this game to be as enjoyable as possible!), I'm gonna hide them just so my comment doesn't take too much space:

  1. the portal gun controls are really slow and not that intuitive. Something I'd do is change its controls to the mouse! Aiming with your cursor, left-click for blue portal and right-click to orange portal, just like the games. That would make it way more bearable and faster, as you wouldn't need to precisely aim your gun changing the angle with the arrows. With that, to make it easier on the hands (using the arrows and the mouse is kind of uncomfortable), I'd make so that the second player controls (the E, S, F and D keys) would also control the character, so you could basically use the normal WASD and mouse setup to play the game. That way you can even make the Z/X buttons jump to, so that people that are used to that can do it too. Shouldn't be hard to do, and I can help you if you think of implementing these changes!

  2. Some of the rooms are really weirdly designed, and I feel like I kinda cheesed it to do it. Things like hopping from two wall portals to make a jump and stuff like that, seems kinda weird. I don't have any tips on redoing it, but I feel like those particularly cheesy rooms have a lot of unused space and can be revamped for a better experience. With such a short game, every room has a lot of weight to it!

Anyways, I really enjoyed playing this. I love demakes and this one is one to remember! Thanks for sharing this with the community :D

That's pretty cool. Took me a bitty to work out the controls but works really well.
