My apologies if this was answered before, search didn't find me much...

Making maps in the IDE is frustrating, especially when they're big, full-width kind of things.

Is there anyway to import a tile map?

Like building it in a text editor and then pasting it in or something. Just the constant zooming/dragging is a mega pain.

I never seen one and I don't think it exists(yet) :/ I seen people make cart editors, maybe you could look into that?

I feel you, it was reaaaaly time consuming when I made GEGGA!

Good luck, hopefully someone could help you!

It'd be straightforward to write a little tool that takes a 128x64 text file and converts chars to map tiles in a cart. For example, a space " " would be sprite 01, a "#" would be sprite 02, etc. You could use picotool for the conversion, though the map region is one of the easier ones to encode in the .p8 format if you just want to do it manually.

I don't see a graphical map editor that outputs to .p8 in the various tool lists. Doesn't seem like it'd be too difficult to make one but I'm not volunteering any time soon. ;)
