  • Auto jumping is prevented
  • Wolrd 3(level 9-12) invisible blocks are a bit more visible
  • Hitting the top of a block is more forgiving

You are a slime that can only jump once, but with the help of jump coins you'll be able to jump once more.

This is my first game made with Pico-8 and my first try at game dev as a whole.

Good job for a first game! The concept is unique and interesting, and the overall execution is good.

I think there is some room for improvement, though, in that the later levels with invisible platforms rely so much on trial and error, which kind of conflicts with the whole puzzle-platformer thing you have going. I was having fun up till level 10, which took me dozens of tries to finish, and I ended up just giving up on level 11. Maybe you could provide some slight visual or audio cues, or at least make the backgrounds a bit more grid-like so we could better tell where the invisible platforms start and stop?

I'll definitely do that. The background already has a tiny difference, but it really is too small. I will definitely rework that and upload a version 1.1

OMG I LOVED THIS GAME!!! I got soooo hooked on it. It's so clever!

WARNING: Spoilers ahead!

I made it past a few levels that mirrored blocks invisibly vertically, then a couple levels that did likewise horizontally, but I didn't see any levels that were solved based on guessing. Are there any?

There was one level that I didn't figure out the puzzle to... The level has yellow blocks, the top half was completely "filled in" with invisible paths, and the bottom half had a pattern. It wasn't too hard to stumble my way to the flag though. :)

Suggestions:

Consider adding the Level Number to the display, so people know how far they got!

Please disable "auto jump" when holding down the Jump Button. I was so frustrated when I'd hold the jump button to do a high jump, then land, then land and accidentally waste a jump. :P

Also, do I have to start at the beginning every time?

I'll probably redo the level with the top filed in. I'll definitely add the level number.
Yeah I can see how the auto-jump is annoying. I'll try to get that fixed as well.
If you mean when you reload the game, then there currently isn't a way to restart from the last level you were on. I'll look into adding that and maybe a small level selection.

Yeah, turning off the auto-repeat on the jump button would help, you can do that with the following command (poking values <255 change the auto-repeat speed).

poke(24412,255)
