I think that the way the dates work would make a great combat system, say you were making a game similar to undertake. My one issue with the game is the color green, as it becomes dangerous without warning. If you were to make the green have a startup, similar to magenta, I’d be happy.
This is really well done! Love the artworks and the way you mixed classical dating sim (map and all) with a replayable minigame. I was thinking if pico was a good platform for games like this, with the restrictions on artworks when it comes to compression. The cool thing about it is that it sparks new and creative ideas like this.
There might be some more room for UX, but it's hard to come up with ideas from the outside. While it has a nice flow to it and a great UI, it can be confusing at the start when it comes to map navigation / character selection.
Thing that confused me most was that being at home, circle opens a settings menu and other places open character select. On character select, circle is "start minigame" and in the settings menu it's "change a setting". So maybe it's about reducing inconsistencies a bit more.
I love the trail effect when characters and some other sprites are moved over the screen.
