My first PICO-8 game!

It's also my first non-endless-arcade-type game really.

This is too cute for words. I like the shapeshifting mechanic and the fact that you have 9 lives :).

If you consistently and quickly press the down and up arrows, then you start to fly. In this way, I got to the location behind the starting house, but I died.

v. 1.1.3: added timer, scoring system out of 100 (both to encourage speedrunning kinda. The final score is determined by fish, coins, and amount of health when the game is finished), fixed some bugs, and improved gameplay. (previous versions were basically bugfixes)

Cute game, my 6 years old loves it. Unfortunately we've reaches the room where lots of raccoons fall in a pit twice, and each time, after jumping in and dying, the game over screen is frozen. The two previous checkpoints (near start and after owl) worked just fine.
Would love the save to remain after leaving (or crashing) the game. It's a bit tricky as there's a lot to keep track of, basically you'd need a flag for each collectible object of the game, but cartdata has 256 bytes of storage, that's 2048 potential flags so that should be enough to save the whole game state even including things like inventory and save coordinates. If you don't want to do it yourself but don't mind others messing with your code, I could do it for you if there's tokens left for it.

We played a third time and got better luck with the racoon pit. (died two times before fully clearing it but the continue screen didn't freeze this time. We were wall hugging when fighting this time so the problem might be related to walking on the moon bracelet's place before defeating the raccoons.
Went to the next screen, reaches the middle thanks to Iframes, but couldn't go further than that so we went back.
At the very left, the ghost spawn rate was so high that we got extreme lag. Walking inside the central thingie did nothing, nor pressing up while on it. We took the fish for good measure, then tried fighting (crowns went over 1000 and counter overflowed out of the screen) and finally died. When going back to the same screen, ghosts where still there spawning like crazy, and next death we got the frozen continue screen again.

@RealShadowCaster hey there! I'm glad you had fun with this game, and it makes me happy your kid liked it, haha! This game was my first real project so at the time I didn't even know how to save! Feel free to poke around in the code, but be warned that it is extremely inefficient and poorly made! Lol. Sounds like you did run into several exciting things, after you get the bracelet that shows up in the left section (it should just appear after 10 or 20 secs, very rough estimate) then you go to the right, back to the raccoon hideout. I do have some newer games on here that I think are much more well made (hopefully you agree lol) but they are also a bit longer. But thanks for checking this out!
