and FWIW, I'm prob old enough to be your mother, but I'm enjoying the heck out of your game. 100 years ago when the internet tubes were first trucked in, there was a little game I loved called Miner VGA. It was sort of raunchy game where you earned enough gems to get to a "cathouse" and win the heart of the Madam. Always loved this sort of game where you find hidden treasures (and not those stupid seek-n-find item games that everyone and their dog is making now!) Love the retro look too. However, I'm not as manually coordinated as I used to be and I absolutely have no idea of how to reach certain things, like the brown key on the second level. Any tips or even cheats how to make these seemingly impossible jumps when you don't have the jump juice? Also, is there anyway you might consider a way to keep items you earn in one level with you when you go to the next. I really think the game might be a bit more fun that way. But my compliments to you for your work on this. I do really like it!

Hi Jilly. You'd still be MY younger sister though (but by only 1 year!) Love this game and somehow last night I actually DID get the brown key, but still are having trouble getting to other places in this level, like the clouds. I'd kill to have the stupid jump juice again! Oh, and what does the "attract" juice do? I've seen it in Level two, just can't find a way to reach it yet.

Aw, geez. Feel the motherly aura on the BBS today. I was born in 77 though, so you'd be pushing it.

The potions are reset at the start of each level because some of them would spoil the challenge. Especially the green one.. you can usually just jump over a few buildings and arrive at the end of the level. There are cheats for the potions though. Warning: extreme spoiler...

Hold down P, T and one of the number keys 1.. 6.
1 blue (flying potion)
2 green (jumping potion)
3 red potion (unlimited ammo)
4 orange (butterfly)
5 purple (triple shot)
6 yellow (attract monster treasure)

I'll post some player guide installments for levels 2&3 soon too.
The yellow potion attracts the treasure that comes out of monsters. It's particularly useful if you can manage to hit the goblin helmets three times, and then suck in the whole ring of treasure.

VGA miner. Ahh.. memories.

Well, if I had a kid at 14.....ok, let's not go there. Bless you, bless you, my friend for the "help" codes! And I did just have the demo from JayIsGames, but dude, you've got another sale. I'm just on the PC in between my daughter chatting with her boyfriend....she HAS to get up to get a diet coke once in a while! But because of your help, I'm buying the full thing tonight. You, dear, are the best. And I love the fact that instead of just buying a game from an unknown entity, I can actually be in contact with the designer through his bbs. Not many people know about the Miner game either and it was my first computer based game addiction. I am IMPRESSED with you! Thank you so much.

Hi Kellybelle,

Another of my fav games is Clydes Revenge and Hocus Pocus they are both oldies but so addictive.

I did finally get to the end of Jasper, now Im starting back at the beginning, cant get enough of this game! I did think his cat could have been a little happier to see Jasper after all he's been through to get there though! LOL

Hi Girls,
I can out do both of you - I'm a 1958 girl. I am a sucker for these adventure games and was quite sad to get to the end. One of my old favs was 'Cosmo's Adventures' - I spent a lot of time trying to beat all of my daughters scores.

The cheat codes for the potions work great, but is there a way to turn them off? Having the jumping potion can be a real pain when trying to make a short controlled jump over the sewage or toxic waste or whatever that brown liquid is....

Ah, good point islandgeek. There isn't a way to do it at the moment.. I'll include that in the next update.

Jilly - that's cats for you. I agree though, I'm working on a more rewarding ending sequence.

It's nice to see some DOS platformer fans show up here. I knew there must be some of you hiding away somewhere. If you feel like a trip down memory lane, dosgames.com has a nice collection here:

Ah, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure from Todd Replogle at Apogee Software. What a blast THAT was!

Anyway, I have a question: In JJ level 9, on the sub-section where the pink/purple dragon is sleeping, there is a Red Gem underground. Beneath the gem it looks like there is more room to explore, but I can't figure out how to get down there. Should I keep trying, or give up?

P#557 2008-03-22 15:30 ( Edited 2008-03-25 19:47)

Nope, there's nothing down there except a big hole.

P#558 2008-03-22 22:09 ( Edited 2008-03-25 19:47)

Here's a hot tip: If you have the Flying Potion and you fall into the bubbling brown goo, you can fly out of it if you're quick!

JJ level 12: Where the heck is the 3rd Golden Globe??? I've found the secret area where the purple dragon lies, but still can't find that stupid sphere!

P#559 2008-03-24 13:59 ( Edited 2008-03-25 19:47)

To get to the 3rd globe you go down through the gold door and when you jump on the flower spring over to the left hand wall and go through to the other side.

captain comic yay.

Lanni,
Thanks for the tip. Actually it's the bronze door instead of the gold door, but I found it anyway.
