Hi guys. I just finished this game (sorta) for Ludum Dare 42. I'm just posting it here real quick to get it uploaded for the compo and I'll flesh this post out later.

Z to attack. Arrow keys move. Double tap an arrow key to dash.

X will restart when you die but it's a little wonky. You'll need to reboot the game to get the original map back.

Finding it a little hard to play for an action battler. Once you get 2-whacks on him he comes from all angles and shoots multiple beams. I would set it so the other button (X) is what causes the player to DASH as pressing arrow key twice does not always work.

Yea, I wanted to fine-tune the dash but I ran out of time with the jam xD.

It's set on a cool down, which I think is 1 second. It felt a little jagged so I wanted to either reduce the cool down or give some kind of visual signal that you could dash again. Without some kind of visual symbol, it just comes across as kind of janky and broken xD.

The game was originally conceived as a monster hunting game and I wanted the x button free to navigate a menu of items and z to use the items, so that's why I wound up using the double tap for the dash as a way to try to still be able to cram the move in there. But since the items aspect fell through it really would have been a lot simpler to put it on the x button xD.

I also didn't get death implemented until the last hour of the jam so I wasn't really able to tune the difficulty xD. I felt bad cause I wasn't able to get to the end during my presentation @_@ and I was using the web version so I couldn't turn death back off so people could see it >.> I think it's beatable though.

Thanks for trying my game!!!
