i ve already got the pocket-Chip https://getchip.com/pages/pocketchip but its not really funny to play games on it cause of the controls. if you feel the same perhaps you are interested in this new kickerstarter projekt. its a gamining handheld based on a raspbery pi zero, so later you can install pico 8 on it :)

If you want an open source gaming handheld that feels like a gaming handheld then check out something like the GCW-Zero

BTW. That kickstarter you have linked is just some guy who does all the soldering legwork and turns out the 3D housing, and (as stated in the video) doesn't come to you assembled.
Excuse me for saying, but this seems more like a scam the further I scrolled down that kickstarter page.
And don't get me wrong, I am all for someone trying to make money, but at what cost to other's ignorance?

Related Information:
The PiGRRL (and anything similar) uses a modified old version of Raspian mixed with RetroPie (also old version) that modifies the keyboard for the game pad and buttons through the GPIO.
If you update the system through update/upgrade in a terminal it will completely break the system, which means re-flashing and reinstalling all the game roms you had on it.
There might be an updated version through someone else outside of the Adafruit dev department, but I can not say for sure.
Also. The Pi-zero may experience slowdown when emulating Playstation titles.
The N64 Emulator is completely out for this project design.
However. There are a lot of NES, SNES, SEGA Genesis/Mega System, Master system, PC Ports (Cave Story), DMG, GBA, GBC, Neo Geo Pocket/Color, etc.. Games it will play.

A complete list of everything inside that Kickstarter handheld;
along with extras and DYI instructions and a place to purchase housings.

I just did all the research legwork. Now go build your own. It'll be a lot more rewording.

P.S. Everything shouldn't cost you more than $100 (before tax + S&H)

hi, i have a few handhelds, also a gp wiz, a a few androids and so on and so on. but they all cant play pico 8 games. and i m too lazy to build one by myself with a pi, so i thought, this kickstarter project is the most easy way to play pico 8 games on a handheld. thats all :)

"PocketCHIP is a Dev toy; Not a gaming rig." - very, very true.

However, if you get/make this d-pad bezel for the PocketCHIP it becomes a very worthy game player, especially for Pico-8. I got one locally printed for about $10 and couldn't be happier.

"That kickstarter you have linked is just some guy who does all the soldering legwork" Let's not be ignorant to the value and complexity of what you have severely understated as "soldering leg work" (as if successfully soldering 50+ smt components is some small affair in itself: it surely is not). Don't get me wrong; software has its value. It's just that any piece of kit like that has involved an enormous amount of engineering precision, software included, and likely several hundred hours of actual work in order to produce. Do not play it down. The end user just puts in a few screws and it's ready. Also, earning money for your time, skill and work is not a "scam". Nothing looks scammy about this guy's work, to me, and it looks as if he has now made good on his promises. Learn a lesson from this, please. Don't stare down your nose at other peoples' creations and hard work.
