I'm new to the Pico-8 and a newbe at coding games... but having fun so far!
I'm making a REMAKE of a CPC 464 game called OH MUMMY! by AMSOFT
The game is coming toghether nicely but one of the best features of the game was his music... -If you played the game you now what i mind... It burns your brain XDDDD
Any musician would like to collaborate making a version for Pico-8?
Thanks! And sorry for my bad english ;)
I punched it in and transposed it, (pico-8 only goes so low,) and put it in the first three tracks/2 patterns of a cart for easy copying. I tried to approach the correct instruments, but didn't adjust the volume at all. (thought that might be closest to the original?)
Just promise me you'll make the right column of your game/map the same width as the rest, and I'll feel better when I go to sleep.
edit: more seriously - don't change your map just because it bugs me. Compromises have to be made to fit that game onto the screen, and it's your call how you want to do that. If you take out the side borders, you could get two more columns closer to the original layout, but then you would still have one column different than the rest. So no real advice from me.
re-edit: Wait, one pice of advice - try to set up the control/movement so that the player moves in chunks of 8 (or whatever your sprite width ends up) so that you don't have to fight to make it around a corner. For extra smoothness, make it so that you can reverse direction at any point.
Awesome tyroney! The music is incredible! Thanks man.
About the controls... yes.. i have to tweak it a little to smoth taking corners.
About the map... it's hard to decide the layout... i'm trying diferrents combinations like:
but i'm trying to finish the code of mechanics before decide cosmetics.
