Controls
Use the arrow keys to turn on and off the lights in the four cardinal directions. The x and z buttons are used to complete the mini game for extra energy.
Rules
Don't let the prisoners get into prison, make sure that they are caught by the light!
Behind the Scenes
This is my first game that I have ever made so please give me some constructive feedback on it. I probably wont implement it in another version of this game, but I will take everything into consideration going forward.



Wow the prisoners are minecraft "steves" with prisoner skins xd



I think the minigame is a cool design decision, as it adds to the stress of trying to focus on many things at once and defend the center. Very cool!



Game-play is OK, presentation a bit rough :
for a score game, it's lacking high score (check cartdata/dset/dget)
The game over screen is easy to exit by mistake with an X or an O button :
at time of game over, you are usually frantically mashing buttons, trying to recover some energy. This leads to a restart or menu, and no possibility to see your hard earned score.
Plenty of ways to handle the problem :
Game over timer before registering buttons
Restart necessitating X+O at the same time for a full second, for example.
...
Z X is very "English keyboard" oriented. On my french keyboard, it's W X.
Even on English keyboard, players can use X C instead to switch button positions. On game pads, it's possible the buttons aren't even labeled.
(capital X and capital O in pico-8 editor) is standard and device neutral.
