I think this just has some music changes and small tweaks to the previous version.

Music by LokiStriker https://lokistriker.itch.io/

I'm so happy with the music.

Added title text and level intro.
Changed life display from the hearts to ships as comments seemed to be confused when all hearts were empty why wasn't the game over.
Tweaked shooting speed.

Nearly a game now. This is what what submitted to the basic shmup showcase.

I've more or less run out of steam.

Some gameplay added still very much a work in progress.

This is my test cart for testing stuff out. I'd really like feedback if this feels at all good. Note the UI elements are not in the test cart.

Specifically talking about 12 level beginning scene

This is actually pretty neat; I hope you continue to work on it.

@binarycrusader sorry I didn't see your comment until today. Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm kinda sorta working on it.

I love this. If tokens counts becomes an issue, I'd vote sacrifice dialogue for wave progression and such.
I'm not sure how you handle level generation, but I tried to get waves to partially randomly generate as the levels progressed to get more levels from less code. I'm saying all this without having looked at your code at all and also as someone who's only programming experience is following the tutorial you've mentioned above.
I love what you have so far. Enemies feel dynamic. UI looks great. everything looks "juicy."

@Mosthumble09 The dialog doesn't take too many tokens, the way I'm hadleing level progression is by hand editing a large list of hex numbers. Which isn't a fun process and is probably largely what killed this off.

Someone has suggested I write a level editor and I think that probably more sensible.

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm going to upload a new version now so some progress is visible.

The first time I tried a primitive version of the game, I really liked the idea. It reminded me of the classic 80s arcade games with their slow-paced gameplay in the early stages. But when I tried this version, I noticed a change in the pace; it's more frantic. Maybe it's because of the music, I don't know. I'm a fan of shmup-style games, and I think you're taking this one in a very good direction. I hope you continue with the development. There are many of us eagerly awaiting its completion.

@Snabisch I haven't officially abandoned yet. However there is a lot of good work by a lot of people in this genre that you can check out at the moment.

(Also I haven't really been doing anything in months)
