The Mac executable of Pico8 is not signed and notarized, the OS blocks its execution. I know how to circumvent that protection but I don't think I should, a commercial software product should work without forcing the user to disable the OS's protection mechanism.
Please, sign and notarize the executable, thanks!

Same for me. I just bought Pico-8 and I'm excited to try it out but I'm a little shy about skipping the security check

I agree, the Mac executable should be signed. I understand there is an expense involved for the developer, but it really is necessary in a commercial product. At the moment I only run Pico-8 on an older computer that is not used for anything sensitive. It would be nice to run it on my main system. Maybe he is waiting for version 1.0?

What's the issue with not just running it anyway? The possibility of the download being replaced with something malicious? Because Pico-8 isn't malware.
