This is madness and I love it. If I can suggest a menu item, the ability to change to a Grey or different color background. This would be to diminish the contrast. For some of us with vision issues the pure black background is a bit straining. Again I love that pico8 developers keep pushing gameplay that surprises the player. I can't wait to show your game to my friends
