Hi everyone! Here's a little project I had sitting around that I've finally decided to finish. The idea behind the game is simple: collect all the ducks indicated in each level and reach the exit point, which only unlocks once you've rescued them all. Controls are straightforward—pressing any action button makes you accelerate, and you steer the direction of propulsion using the arrow keys.

I think the most fun part is trying to beat each level's record time; skilled players can set really fast times.

This is my first game made with PICO-8, and I've tried to stick closely to its original limitations, such as using only the default 16-color palette and editing maps and sprites directly within the built-in editors. This way, anyone can easily modify levels or tweak the sprites through the graphical editor.

Hope you enjoy it!

Really fun game you have here. I enjoyed it and the art is epic! Is there any chance we can get the controls to not be inverted? Unless that's a part of the game of course. Just throws me off at times when moving too fast.

Hi, thanks for playing the game. About the controls, setting them up like this was a deliberate choice. It makes the game a bit more challenging and helps stretch out the playtime a little. Plus, it’s the kind of setup where, after a few rounds, you build up that muscle memory and can control the character without even thinking. It’s actually when you stop to think about which button to press that you end up getting stuck...

Loved the little bit I've played, waiting to continue till I have it on my handheld and some time to kill. It looks incredible, and I agree that making the controls inverted was a good idea to add some initial difficulty.

Quite fun, but I accidentally selected "Exit to Title" and I think that means I have to start from the beginning? And if I'm reading the "Records" screen, I was on the last level?

Of the levels I did complete, this one felt more frustrating than fun. I think I died more times on it than on the next five levels put together. No matter how efficiently I flew, I kept reaching the end just short of enough fuel to reach the exit. This is the run where I finally scraped through.

Hi. If you’re in the title screen, I’m sorry to say you’ll have to start over from level one. Your records are saved, but you won’t be able to start from a specific level until that feature is unlocked. To unlock it, you need to complete all the levels at least once, including both the regular levels and the mirror mode ones.
As for the difficulty, it’s true that the final levels are quite challenging. It’s easier if you play with a keyboard or, even better, with a handheld console like an RGB30 with a d-pad. Playing on a mobile phone with a touchscreen is much, much harder…
