Familiar Frog Game

Rundown
This game should feel very familiar. That's why I chose it to be my first Pico-8 game. It let me work with something I knew (Konami's Frogger) while I learned something new (Pico-8/Lua). There are differences from the original beyond the art style. There is only one level. The road directions are more realistic. The game is easier either because of my inexperience in game design or because I was making this for young, inexperienced gamers. Not sure which. I hope you enjoy. After this, I will move on to new, less familiar games.
Objective
Get a frog to all six lily pads at the top of the screen. You lose a life if you are killed or if you don't get to the top within 30 seconds.
Scoring
- Each forward hop is 10 points.
- Landing on a lily pad is 50 points.
- Eating a fly is 200 points
- Guiding the pink frog to the lily pad is 200 points.
- Each half second left on the timer when you reach a lily pad is 10 points
- Each remaining life is worth 200 points
Hazards
- Flattened by cars is fatal.
- Drowning is fatal.
- Not making it home in 30 seconds is fatal.
- Missing your jump into your home is fatal.

Patch Notes

- Fixed the bug where logs would overlap causing the log velocity to be added to the frog twice.
- Fixed the runtime error which checked for drowning before the game began.
- Added persistent hiscores.
- Improved logo screen with animated obstacles.
May 7, 2025
- Fixed bug that prevented player from trying again after winning the game.
- Fixed bug that prevented points from remaining lives being added to persistent hiscore.

Sinking Turts are the worst!!
3 or 4 days. I can't remember if I started Wednesday or Thursday though (uploaded on Saturday). Disclaimer: I am a programmer at work too. But this is way more fun than what I do for work.
