Snail Adventure

Press 'Z' to Jump, Arrow keys to slime around. If you die press 'Z' to continue. 'O' and 'P' move the camera up and down if you get bored.

I ran out of slime

The emitters are set to infinite, but they just stop after awhile. It starts again when you change rooms at least.

Got to the end? (There may be multiple I don't know about?)

Was fun and cute. Really like the side scrolling cave area.
A couple small gripes, most of these are just personal things:

It's not immediately obvious what is dangerous for you to touch and what isn't.
It's not immediately obvious you can walk off screen to a new screen.
At the end of the game, you can't walk around. :P

Thanks for the feedback, Cabledragon.

I agree there are some issues. It is difficult to tell where the doors are. I tried to indicate their location using paths or openings but it isn't always clear.

As I developed the game in fullscreen I didn't realize the mites (single black voxels) would be so hard to see in the web player. I indented the other animals to be trial and error wether or not they would be dangerous.

The final scene is just kind of a trophy room as things change depending if you've collected the three treasures, the key and rescued the captive snail or not. The snail on the bed is actually a monster and the player is hidden behind the house. Just a design choice I guess. You can still hear him jumping if you press the button.

About halfway through development I realized Voxatron hasn't been updated since 2015 so I abandoned a lot of things I intended to put in there.

Thanks for trying it!

I really liked the cave area, I thought it looked so cool. I've wanted to make something like that in Voxatron but, I don't know, the idea to make it look like that never came to me. That thin platform room was really cool as well.

I didn't really have any issues with the enemies. I played the game in fullscreen, and I figured the flies were enemies.

I could also tell where the doors were, but that might be because I thought about that when I tried to do a similar thing in my games.

Great job! I enjoyed playing it, and looking at/interacting with the interesting art and enemies.

Thanks Blazerman,

I tried to do something a bit different than the other games I'd played in Voxatron. I wanted to add some more details in a few of the rooms, but as I mentioned I kind of just rushed things to release the game in a mostly finished state.

I'm not really a great artist, so I was happy with how most of the visuals came out. The ghost was one of the last things I did and you can tell I got lazy.

I wish Voxatron was still more actively updated because I wanted to add a lot more to the game. Vertical scrolling would be a great feature and hopefully Lula scripting and light sources are added eventually.

I played through both of the games you posted and I liked some of the innovative things I saw like riding the friends to cross the mud and lava rooms. Nice work!

Thanks for the compliment! Riding the friends was pretty much my favorite part of those games. I've also been tentatively waiting for lua scripting and light sources, though this is not to say that I think I'm close to mastering the current Voxatron.
