a tiny simulation that's not very good. FYI, the ant health bars only show up when ants are in combat, but you can click on the ant to see its status anytime.

-Developer art

Left arrow: kill ants
Right arrow: spawn ants
Down arrow: spawn food
Up arrow: freeze ants/dismiss ant info

Mouse click on an ant to see it's info. while viewing the ant's info press:
"K" to kill ant
"R" to rename ant
Up arrow to dismiss info

Up coming features:
-Spiders (if they eat ants. have to look that up I guess)
-Water or something else to collect maybe
-Fix bug: ant stuck attacking corpse
-Wrap sim in a "game" of sorts

Don't bother looking at the code. It's super sloppy, confusing and embarrassing. Thank you!

Unless these are Tribbles, you can't start a colony with just one ant. :)

That's fine. This is quite the simulator. Gold star for you. If you haven't already, check out SIMANT for the SNES.

Thanks, DW. It's really not an attempt to model the behavior as ants specifically, but you're right, I should probably call them something besides ants.

I knew of Simant, but I never owned it growing up. It is a very loose inspiration for this though.

Watching that video made me realize I should have made a larger playing area with a moveable camera, but this was really just an experiment. C'est la vie!

Oh that's fine, @Jerkstore. I remember working on a silly sideview kind of virtual ant-farm back in GFA years ago. Everything was just enlarged pixels then but they had their own identity, their own brain.

I thought that was interesting. They went to the surface to grab food, green blocks, came back, propagated with the pink block, babies were born, ants were formed, and the process repeated.

There was no combat at the time. Just a simple peaceful ant farm you could watch grow and control the cycle of food and water. A true ZEN cart if you will. :)
