You could set up emitters to create a waterfall or water flowing through a elevated water way which would spill into the room when the supports for it were destroyed allowing access to other areas or progression to the next room! Stuff like that... Be creative!

Well, I'll also really like that, too.

I want the "draw on screen" animation option back, it would do great for a personalized hub.
also, please make it possible to use it on monsters too, so we can also personalize the hearts.

I just noticed we have TWO PAGES NOW omg omg I didn't even knew it was possible!

Well, it was also on the OLD SUGGESTION BUCKET that I found one week ago, maybe this suggestion bucket will soon become forgotten, and a Kling in the Future will make a suggestion Bucket, and a Future WhiteFireStone will find this Suggestion Bucket, and like that in a infinite non-stoping loop...

Stop! This is a suggestion bucket!

And you're hurting my brain...

JUAJUAJUA!!!
Well, let's forget this suggestion bucket, and make another one!

BUCKET TIME!

This one is the OLD SUGGESTION BUCKET.

I also would like lanterns, and the volumetric lighting.

I notice that a lot of people are requesting new elements to the game be added which are great, but I'd like to request something a bit more technical:

A Virtual Limit in terms of the Voxatron Console's processing. In terms of thinking of it as a virtual console, that console must have limitations, yes? They cannot be dependent on the cpu of the developer. I am not sure how this would be achieved. I have already run into several carts where it severely messes with my system in terms of slowdown. I would think that a fair maximum amount of processing per frame would be nice so that the experience is as close as identical as possible in terms of speed regardless of system and chosen display resolution level.

On a plus side, I think this would force a lot more creative use of the tools available and get away from this idea that throwing in more of something = better. I'd rather not see another dozens of carts try and do crazy stuff that's only going to run on certain platforms. Even if 100% compatibility in terms of frame rate cannot be guaranteed, it a limit would still do a lot to address this issue. Like I said, when a designer has to figure out the most efficient way to make the situation dire, you can bet it will be much more creative than simply adding 50 dragon spawns to a level or some BS like that.

Without knowing what takes up the most cycles or anything like that, I cannot make a suggestion on that level, but maybe tackling it in a 'blocks' type fashion in terms of 8x8x8 blocks that can be moving/being processed at once (not including environmental effects such as water and snow). So for instance an 8x8x8 = 1 block. Then you can say the size of a stage is calculated the same, but each 8x8x8 = 1/2 a block (because there's no processing other than collision). And then you can go from there, play with different limits to find a decent balance then have block limit per room.

However, there's a non-technical way to get around this, but it may be frowned upon and that's that maybe WIP carts not be directly downloadable inside of Voxatron, only complete tested ones that have gone through playtesting on the WIP forums for, idk, say a week or so. And if no issues at all have sprung up after a week and at least 10 downloads, then it can get added to the BBS cart list inside of voxatron. I think overall it would just lead to an overall more polished presentation to new players who go thumbing through bbs carts on their first go aimlessly and end up loading up a bunch of random uitilities, unifinished games, and such.

Just an idea, don't kill me! :)

the virtual limitation is a great idea, it could stop some cartridges to go out of control and breaking the console, but that last part bothers me:
your "avaliation period" for WIP carts before adding it to the bbs on the console would make the filtering in the bbs meaningless, what would it be of the option to choose the WIP and finished cartridges if there would only be the finished ones?
also, your concept of presenting a better voxatron to new players would also scare new designers, because with that WIP week if somebody is starting and isn't received well it will probably make the person quit and possibly wasting potential.
a better aproach of that would be a quality filter on the already existing bbs filter, something like the minimum number of stars

I fucked ur mom in ass

Inside of voxatraon, I think meta tags should be used to filter cartridges (shooter, rpg, platform, etc.) instead of state of completeness. As I said, I think all games inside of voxatron from the BBS should be finished, even if short. For playing the wip carts, it would be active participation by the user. Maybe even voxatron could kick the player out to a browser to the forums in order to emphasize the fact that these carts are not meant for mass consumption.

I would still not aprove, such metod would segregate part of the comunity and lead to issues like when a player would like to replay a cartridge but doesn't have internet.
its a player choice if they want to see or not to see the WIP cartridges on the bbs, I do not think that removing that choice would make voxatron any better, instead it would only make it worse.

Well, I think Voxatron needs, em... Something?

Mr. zep
What about adding animals to Voxatron, like penguins, wolfs and cats, or stuff like that?

Hey, just got the hang of the editor yesterday, the first thing I thought was how nice it would be to zoom with the mouse wheel, move the camera with middle mouse, and pan with ctrl+middle mouse.

Other than that I like the editor, it's really intuitive. Right-click for eyedropper is useful and I'm glad you included it. :)

Yeah, that's right

Aaaaaaand, zep, what about cats?

I'll make you a cat! That's easy! Anything special about it? or just a cat? :)

Well, I would like a black and white cat, pleaseee
;)

I'm on it!!!

Done! Sorry I didn't have the time to make it until just a little while ago... But here it is! ;)

Can you see the video? :/

If not, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX4y3rLMnFw

Ability to edit internal actors and stuff? I need to make bombs that explode with butamons...

voxatron 0.3.4

dialog boxes would be nice zep. something to help add any lore.

@zep
You can now count pickups and display the quantity in ui with inventory object.
It would be nice if you can also count dead monsters. Unless there is a way to do it already that I don't know about.

Thank you.

@j328
You can check out an exploding monster in the first room of the level below.
Smokey the Murdercube Alpha
if you have trouble bring cartridge in to editor check out last video on

this tutorial is showing how to upload a user level into BBS Carts

you just got to do it in opposite order. Hope that helps.

zep, any predictions as to if the custom bullets will be able to be used to reflect monster bulets just like the legacy sword?

Maybe a way to make monsters that chase/face other monsters? Like Team 3 Monsters will chase Team 4 Monsters.
