I've read the solutions to some of the games. But don't understand the abbreviations.
Am I the only one?

The solutions are meant for being viewed in the game. You can select the solution text, copy it to the clipboard and then paste it right on the puzzle screen by using Options -> Paste Replay. Read page 5 of the in-game instructions (accessed from the main menu) for a full description of this. It's actually pretty neat.

I've tried to copy it (many times!) and I have upgraded the game. What am I missing?

What does the game tell you when you click "Paste Replay" in the game? There should be a message in white text near the bottom of the playfield. Post it here, it will give us a better idea of what's going wrong.

What's on your clipboard? Paste it into a message here, so we can make sure it's complete.

Are you in the correct level? Sometimes it's easy to miss the obvious things.

I think that is the problem. I can't get the solution on my clipboard. The Ctrl-C doesn't work for me. And where can you see what's on your clipboard? When I click 'paste replay' it says: replay loaded. And when I then click the 'redo' button, nothing happens.

My testing suggests that the game saying "Replay loaded" means that the copied replay was for the right level and is complete. I wonder what could cause the correct message to be displayed and still not work as a replay. Make sure you do not press "copy replay" in the game before pressing "paste replay", because otherwise the clipboard gets overwritten by the current solution (which might be "empty").
To see what is in your clipboard (and also to show us), put the cursor right in the "Enter your comments" box below and paste the clipboard contents using Ctrl-V.
I assume you are familiar with the copy-paste clipboard mechanics in general. If you have never copy/pasted text from other websites, we can go into more detail on that.

(BTW, if we end up with any unmarked spoilers appearing in this thread, I'm sure Lexaloffle can edit the posts later)

Chocolate Castle Recording
Room: 38 Set: 3 Moves: 0 Len: 0 Chash: 9f3b

It would seem the solution is in my clipboard, but I can't get it to play in the game.

P#221 2007-05-29 23:57 ( Edited 2007-07-07 00:16)

What you pasted there is an "empty", 0-move solution. This gets copied to the clipboard if you start an unsolved puzzle and press Options -> Copy Replay.
What you need to do is copy a solution from this BBS to the clipboard (mark it with the mouse and press Ctrl-C), go to the correct game level and then press Options -> Paste Replay.

Just a side note - if you're using Mac OSX, use Apple-C instead of Ctrl-C to copy.

For convenience, here's a (slightly silly) solution to the first room on easy to try it out:

Chocolate Castle Recording
Room: 1 Set: 1 Moves: 16 Len: 80 Chash: 7237
Md4d6Md6d7Mc8a8M2928M0d09M6b7bM3a68M92c4
M6777M3646M2271M4564M7685M8797M7868M7767
P#226 2007-05-31 09:32 ( Edited 2007-07-07 00:16)

I copied it to my clipboard as showm below.
Room: 38 Set: 3 Moves: 11 Len: 142 Chash: 9f3bM8785M6776M1655M5969M2c6eM6a6bSb5llddllldlllluuuuuluuuuulldllururruruuuuuururururrrrrrrrSb9llllllldllulldrlldllllllldlllrurddrdM61ddM20d9M9cac
But when I click the replay button it says: there is no replay in your clipboard. Is there another way to get the solution. I know it's simple, but I just don't get it.

Your example is missing the first line ("Chocolate Castle Recording"). Try selecting the whole gray box. Other than that, it seems to be working.

P#230 2007-06-03 15:10 ( Edited 2007-07-07 00:16)

Even with the whole thing it still doesn't work. I go straight to the game and click the paste button, but it comes out empty. I know I'm kind of a pain here, but it just don't work with me. Is there a way to give me a walkthrough?

P#231 2007-06-03 23:04 ( Edited 2007-07-07 00:16)

No problem. Here are some step-by-step instructions to try out.

  1. Select the following recording. Click and drag from the start of 'Chocolate', to the end of the mess of numbers of letters. Once it is selected, all of the text should be a different colour.
Chocolate Castle Recording
Room: 1 Set: 1 Moves: 16 Len: 80 Chash: 7237
Md4d6Md6d7Mc8a8M2928M0d09M6b7bM3a68M92c4
M6777M3646M2271M4564M7685M8797M7868M7767
  1. Choose 'Copy' from the edit menu to copy the text to the clipboard.

  2. Run Chocolate Castle, and open Room 1 from the Easy puzzle set.

  3. While you're in the room, click on OPTIONS and then the PASTE REPLAY button.

If it worked, it should show you a message: 'Replay Loaded', and you should be able to see 'MOVES: 0 of 16' beneath 'ROOM 1' at the top right.

If it didn't work, try verifying that the text was copied correctly after step 2 by pasting it into a word processor or the reply to this message. It should look exactly the same, with line breaks in the same places etc. The recording you posted before looked weird - the recording data (9f3b..) shouldn't all be on the same line, and there should be a number next to Chash. So perhaps something went wrong:

Room: 38 Set: 3 Moves: 11 Len: 142 Chash: 9f3bM8785M6776M1655M5969M2c6eM6a6bSb5llddllldlllluuuuuluuuuulldllururruruuuuuururururrrrrrrrSb9llllllldllulldrlldllllllldlllrurddrdM61ddM20d9M9cac

Are you using Mac OS X or Windows?

P#232 2007-06-05 22:28 ( Edited 2007-07-07 00:16)

Just wanted to let you know that I finally got it right. I have to copy it to a notepad first. Arrange the lines in the correct order, and then copy that.
This will paste the solution into the game.
Wow, 38 was simple. Never saw it...
Thanks for your reply in trying to help out.
Now I'm waiting for a solution for Hard, level 14. ;)

P#269 2007-07-06 01:58 ( Edited 2007-07-07 00:16)

Oh, good. It's still weird that you have to do the notepad step, but at least it works!
