i like it!

i do have one suggestion: if i'm not mistaken, it's possible to have "unfair" shape generation, right? or otherwise it's possible for the player to get unwittingly trapped? to make it seem more fair, you could have a pickup appear occasionally, or give the player a supply of it, that does one of these things:

a) limited-duration invincibility. pass harmlessly through anything for x seconds.
b) bullet. fire a missile that removes a shape on contact.
c) limited-hit invincibility. remove the next shape you hit.

and there are a variety of other possibilites, these are just three off the top of my head.
