Demake *Demo* <h1>Super Mario Bros. Demake <strong>DEMO</strong></h1> <p>Hello all, today I wanted to present my Super Mario Bros. demake, in a work-in-progress state.<br /> This has been worked on for about a month or two, mostly due to me trying to create my own platforming engine, but failing miserably, and some troubles. This demo uses the <a href="https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=28793">Advanced Micro Platformer engine</a> by <a href="https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?uid=15406"><a href="https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?uid=15406"> @mhughson</a></a>. Check it out- it's pretty cool! Also, I know that his SMB remake also uses this engine, although his has larger sprites, and mine has smaller, you get what I mean..? Anyways, the cartridge is linked below, try it, although it's very barebones and spaghetti coded if you're looking into it with a technical view! <table><tr><td width=32> <img src="https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/gfxc/56455_0.png" width=32 height=32> </td> <td valign=bottom> <a style="cursor:pointer;font-size:8pt" onclick=' var el = document.getElementById("gfxcode_56455_0"); if (el.style.display == "none") el.style.display = ""; else el.style.display = "none"; microAjax("https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/gfxc/56455_0.txt", function (retdata){ var el = document.getElementById("gfxcode_56455_0"); el.innerHTML = retdata; el.focus(); el.select(); } ); '> [8x8]</a> </td></tr> <tr><td colspan=2> <textarea rows=3 class=lexinput id="gfxcode_56455_0" style="width:640px;background-color:#fed;display:none;overflow:hidden; font-size:6pt;"></textarea> </td> </tr> </table> </p> <p> <table><tr><td> <a href="/bbs/?pid=151186#p"> <img src="/bbs/thumbs/pico8_mdemo01-0.png" style="height:256px"></a> </td><td width=10></td><td valign=top> <a href="/bbs/?pid=151186#p"> mdemo01</a><br><br> by <a href="/bbs/?uid=56455"> Mank</a> <br><br><br> <a href="/bbs/?pid=151186#p"> [Click to Play]</a> </td></tr></table> </p> <p>By the way, if you want to use the music, for some reason (Yes, yes, I know, it's probably because it's <strong>catchy</strong>), it's linked below. <strong>ALTHOUGH, DON'T FORGET TO CREDIT ME IF YOU DO!</strong><br /> <table><tr><td width=32> <img src="https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/gfxc/56455_1.png" width=32 height=64> </td> <td valign=bottom> <a style="cursor:pointer;font-size:8pt" onclick=' var el = document.getElementById("gfxcode_56455_1"); if (el.style.display == "none") el.style.display = ""; else el.style.display = "none"; microAjax("https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/gfxc/56455_1.txt", function (retdata){ var el = document.getElementById("gfxcode_56455_1"); el.innerHTML = retdata; el.focus(); el.select(); } ); '> [8x16]</a> </td></tr> <tr><td colspan=2> <textarea rows=3 class=lexinput id="gfxcode_56455_1" style="width:640px;background-color:#fed;display:none;overflow:hidden; font-size:6pt;"></textarea> </td> </tr> </table> </p> <p> <iframe src="sfxp2.php?id=56455_1" width="402" height="300" style="border:none; overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" allow="autoplay"></iframe><a style="cursor:pointer; font-size:8pt" onclick=' var el = document.getElementById("sfxcode_56455_1"); if (el.style.display == "none") el.style.display = ""; else el.style.display = "none"; microAjax("/bbs/sfxc/56455_1.txt", function (retdata){ var el = document.getElementById("sfxcode_56455_1"); el.innerHTML = retdata; el.focus(); el.select(); } ); '> [sfx] </a> <textarea rows=3 class=lexinput id="sfxcode_56455_1" style="width:480px;background-color:#fed;display:none;overflow:hidden; font-size:4pt;"></textarea> </p> <h2>-@Mank</h2> https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=143093 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=143093 Thu, 11 Jul 2024 16:09:29 UTC Compressed Jelpi <h1>Compressed Jelpi</h1> <p>For modders' sake, I have compressed the Jelpi demo using Shrinko8 (<a href="https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=48591">https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=48591</a>), and the result of the compression is this:<br /> <table><tr><td> <a href="/bbs/?pid=149439#p"> <img src="/bbs/thumbs/pico8_jelpicomp-0.png" style="height:256px"></a> </td><td width=10></td><td valign=top> <a href="/bbs/?pid=149439#p"> jelpicomp</a><br><br> by <a href="/bbs/?uid=56455"> Mank</a> <br><br><br> <a href="/bbs/?pid=149439#p"> [Click to Play]</a> </td></tr></table> </p> <p>There isn't anything different visually or auditorily (I hope), but the code is compressed ~1000 tokens (I think). Hope this helps, in some way. </p> <p>Also, all credits to Zep, Jelpi was all made by Zep.</p> https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=142584 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=142584 Tue, 04 Jun 2024 20:40:47 UTC SMB Starman Theme Remix <h2>Super Mario Bros. <em>Starman Theme</em> <strong>REMIX</strong></h2> <h3>(Credits to Nintendo)</h3> <p>While editing Jelpi to be a mario-reminisced game, I had the idea to make the <em>Star</em>/<em>Starman</em> theme from the original 1985 <em>Super Mario Bros.</em> </p> <p>I also made the song as if it were in Jelpi, although to be honest I don't really see the comparison well as I had imagined the sound would've.</p> <p>Anyways, enough of my talking. Here's the song itself:</p> <p> <iframe src="sfxp2.php?id=56455_0" width="402" height="300" style="border:none; overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" allow="autoplay"></iframe><a style="cursor:pointer; font-size:8pt" onclick=' var el = document.getElementById("sfxcode_56455_0"); if (el.style.display == "none") el.style.display = ""; else el.style.display = "none"; microAjax("/bbs/sfxc/56455_0.txt", function (retdata){ var el = document.getElementById("sfxcode_56455_0"); el.innerHTML = retdata; el.focus(); el.select(); } ); '> [sfx] </a> <textarea rows=3 class=lexinput id="sfxcode_56455_0" style="width:480px;background-color:#fed;display:none;overflow:hidden; font-size:4pt;"></textarea> </p> <h3><strong>You're free to use this, but </strong>please give credit<strong> if you do.</strong></h3> https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=142495 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=142495 Wed, 29 May 2024 18:03:07 UTC (INEFFICENT) Scanline Test <p> <table><tr><td> <a href="/bbs/?pid=148977#p"> <img src="/bbs/thumbs/pico8_scannies-0.png" style="height:256px"></a> </td><td width=10></td><td valign=top> <a href="/bbs/?pid=148977#p"> scanlines</a><br><br> by <a href="/bbs/?uid=56455"> Mank</a> <br><br><br> <a href="/bbs/?pid=148977#p"> [Click to Play]</a> </td></tr></table> </p> <p>A small little scanline test I made out of boredom..</p> <p>I know it isn't top-tier, or the most efficient, but I tried, atleast.</p> <p>If you care a bit for how this was done, I basically set a couple FOR loops, get certain pixels' color, retrieve a certain value from a table, set a pixel with the recently retrieved value from that table at the position of the pixel that we retrieved its' color from, and, then, repeat that ~8192 times, and then you got some mediocre scanlines! :D</p> <p>I get that was a bit vague, but if you want a more detailed explanation, just look inside the cartridge.</p> <p>(passive aggressiveness not intended.)</p> https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=142435 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=142435 Sun, 26 May 2024 02:04:43 UTC Super Mario Eight Stars <p> <table><tr><td> <a href="/bbs/?pid=110799#p"> <img src="/bbs/thumbs/pico8_gawuyugife-0.png" style="height:256px"></a> </td><td width=10></td><td valign=top> <a href="/bbs/?pid=110799#p"> &quot;Super Mario 8-Stars&quot;</a><br><br> by <a href="/bbs/?uid=56455"> Mank</a> <br><br><br> <a href="/bbs/?pid=110799#p"> [Click to Play]</a> </td></tr></table> <br /> Hello! This is my first game, so sorry if it is bad (*edit: it is). Thanks to @Gabe8bit for the original game, and Nintendo for Mario.</p> <p>WHY I NAMED IT SUPER MARIO 8 STARS:<br /> I named it &quot;Super Mario 8 Stars&quot; because the original creator @Gabe8bit made a SMAS remake on PICO-8, So I mixed up Super Mario All Stars and PICO-8 And got Super Mario Eight Stars!</p> https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=47534 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=47534 Mon, 25 Apr 2022 00:33:37 UTC
