I created this simple multilayer parallax scrolling demo just for fun and to see what I can achieve without too much efford. Enjoy!

Hi,
This is the release of PicoMage, my PICO-8 fantasy card game remake of ArcoMage / Ants.

The basic rules are:

You play as the red mage and your goal is to defeat the blue mage.
You and the computer play one card each turn (and draw a new one at the beginning of the next turn).

For each card you have to pay bricks or weapons or crystals in order to play it.
Cards for building you castle usually cost bricks to play.
Attack cards cost weapons to play and crystal cards have varying effects.

If you have not enough resources, you can discard a card.

The number of builders determines how much bricks you get each round, the same applies to soldiers - weapons and magi - crystals.

You win if your castle reaches a height of 100 or the enemy's castle is destroyed (height = 0).
You lose if your castle is destroyed (height = 0) or the enemy's castle reaches a height of 100.

Update Version 1.1

replaced total random card draw by adding probabilities for each card and also a card is never drawn as long as you already have it in your hand
you can now discard playable cards by pressing the down button when the card is selected
made some of the cheap attack cards stronger to do more damage
mages on the title screen look a bit more badass

Hi there,

This is the prototype of my remake of ANTS (http://www.homeoftheunderdogs.net/game.php?id=3761) which is a remake of Arcomage. This version is already fully playable.
You take turns playing cards against the computer. You goal is to build you castle (the left one) up to a height of 100 or destroy the computer's castle (the right one).
This version is not 100% ANTS, I had to reduce the card hand size from 8 to 7 (notice that Arcomage has only 6), but all cards are included (I renamed some and I tweaked some minor stats).

Features still missing:

sound effects
music
some gfx could be nicer
difficulty settings

Tell me what you think of it and what I might improve.

Guess the word

Hi, this is my first game for the PICO-8.
It's a word guessing game like hangman, but without the actual man who is going to be hanged.
As this is a word game, it comes in two different flavours:
First there is your typical 'vanilla' English version above and
second I made a version in everyone's favourite language: German.
Feel free to create a version for another language!
