Access menu outside of splore?

Hi all, I've been wanting to add menuitems to my game that show up in the splore pause menu, but I can't seem to access it when I'm just running a standard cart on my computer. I would expect that I could press esc or some other hotkey to open the menu but that brings me back to the tutorial instead. The workaround is to publish my game every time I make a change to the menu system, but that isn't exactly ideal. Any help?

In space, everyone can hear you scream, and they want you to shut up!

You pilot a small triangular spaceship and must make a living for yourself stealing fuel from empire bases. But every action you take makes noise that the sentries can hear. In order to keep your engine running, you must venture from base to base, sneakily and silently nabbing fuel.

Made for week 1 of Game Studio by Kyle Neubarth and Albert Jin!

arrow keys to accelerate/turn

z - shoot
x - hyperdrive (burns extra fuel, really loud, pretty fast)
