You start as a maggot and go through its entire life cycle as you play. If you don’t finish the sequence of games before reaching the end of its life, it’s game over. That time pressure adds a layer of urgency to everything, and (hopefully) some dark humor too.

The jam’s main constraint was to use only two colors, which shaped the game’s visual style and made for an interesting creative challenge. It ended up placing 2nd overall, which was a great surprise.

Would love to hear any thoughts — feedback, impressions, or just which minigame gave you the most trouble.

A Buzz Life: Microgames for winged weirdos is also available on Itch.io.

Thanks for checking it out! - Crudaluna :))
     https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=149084 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=149084 Mon, 19 May 2025 21:34:32 UTC Into the Kaloo

  Into the Kaloo

by Crudaluna

[Click to Play]

Hello everyone :)) After many months after its completion I'm happy to finally share my little game on the BBS. I just saw that a couple of recent threads are already active about this topic (I'm referring to the ones about Gameshell and PocketCHIP) but I couldn't find any list.

Since I'm very interested in development for handheld consoles and I would like to start with something related to Pico-8, I'm asking you which are all of the known portable devices capable of running our fantasy console!

Thank you in advance for the answers :)
https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=31603 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=31603 Sat, 04 Aug 2018 08:04:03 UTC My short presentation and a couple of questions
Hi everyone, I'm glad to join PICO-8's community!

I heard about the "fantasy console" for the first time when I became aware of the newest Humble Bundle. Just the idea of a tiny virtual machine on which is possible to create little softwares to play on the same system on which they have been made amazed me. It could make no sense being already limited in game development, but it perfectly agrees with the meaning of "vintage" and "retro".

I come from a childhood during which I used to play many old games through emulators, but I also had the chance to buy a real NES (..obviously my favourite console)! I have been able to study what makes games enjoyable to play thank to my passion for game development, in fact I started learning coding and game design by himself at early age. I did not have many experiences with different programming languages or game engines: I started with GameMaker and kept growing my knowledge in using that great tool.

During 2016 I founded Credici, a development team with which I'm developing a PC game dated to be released at the end of spring. I would like to continue talking about Credici and our game but I feel it would be inappropriate "making advertising" on this forum.

Here are my questions:

How PICO-8 born? (I didn't find much surfing the net..)

What "BBS" stands for?

When you find someone to have a collaboration with, how do you work on the same cartridge at the same time? or how do you merge your jobs?

Thank you in advance for the answers!
I hope to feel comfortable in this community and to have good relations with you other :)

  Credici Logo 1.0

by Crudaluna

[Click to Play]

https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=28433 https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=28433 Wed, 04 Jan 2017 18:11:07 UTC
