Editor-in-Chief at BonusRadar Italy. I spend most of my time working with digital content, but lately I’ve been exploring PICO-8, tiny games and pixel art. Mostly here to learn, discover interesting projects and see what people can do with a few pixels and a lot of imagination.

I’m fairly new to PICO-8 and mostly exploring the community at the moment. Are there any small carts you’d recommend looking at to understand simple game structure, movement or pixel art?

I’m especially interested in projects that keep things simple rather than doing something technically huge.

I’ve been browsing PICO-8 projects lately and I think the limitations are probably the part I find most interesting.

With such a small canvas and limited tools, every choice seems more deliberate — how movement feels, which colours are used, or how much can be communicated with just a few pixels.

I’m still very new to this side of game development, but it’s been fun seeing how much personality people manage to fit into such small projects.
