Hello,

I just installed Pico-8 and it work okeyish. While it work perfect on my raspberry pi, it take a while to execute on Windows 10. [More than a minute before listening to the 8bit sound].

Is someone having a solution to that ?

Thanks in advance.
Massimo

@Cathodeus

Does it happen every single time you launch PICO-8?

Also, it may be helpful to say what version of Win10 you're running (32-bit vs 64-bit), what CPU, what GPU, how much memory, etc.

Hi @Cathodeus. We could assume for a moment that it is your anti-virus that is unhappy and slowing down its loading.

Whitelist the directory Pico-8 is in for your existing anti-virus and see if that doesn't make it run faster.

I had to do this for Blitz.

I'd agree with dw817. It could be that your antivirus is curious about PICO-8 and will submit it to some remote website for analysis before allowing it to run, which could induce the variable launch time.

Another way to test would be to disconnect your network and try launching it several times to see if it ever takes a long time.

I don't remember if PICO-8 itself tries to access the internet on startup, but that also might be an issue if its connections to, e.g. lexaloffle.com are timing out.
