Created in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 52

-how to play-

Plant crystals on wet ground using x. Planting a new crystal costs money. Water droplets will fall on the crystal causing it to grow. Once fully grown the crystal can be harvested for money. Alternatively you can break the crystal, spreading its fragments to neighboring wet ground tiles. Finding the right balance between harvesting and breaking is the key to getting a high score.

-tips-

Shattering a crystal will always drop the same number of shards as long as there are enough open wet ground tiles for them.

You can know how close a crystal is to its next growth stage by counting how many water droplets landed on it.

updates:

v1.0.1: Fixed an off-by-one error which prevented crystals from spreading into the leftmost and topmost tiles.

What a beautiful game. Thank you for sharing!
Could you add a longer (/untimed) mode?

What an interesting game, @pianoman373.

I would add an option to have instead of having only an "endless" mode, have a "quest" mode where you must acquire a certain amount of money to open the door to new levels.

Each level has less "fragment-friendly" ground than the last. The object of the game is to beat all 4- or 8- levels or so, and WIN THE GAME. Also to have a SAVE GAME option for the quest mode - saving your game between levels.

Now this does not guarantee a win as you are reset to $0 each level.

Nonetheless, here is a gold star, pales in comparison to your beautiful crystals I know. :)

Thanks for the feedback @aced @dw817! I've definitely had the idea of adding more levels floating around for a while now. I'll have to think about how and endless level could work though. I really hope to continue adding more of those kind of features to the game into a post-jam release version.

Air mail flew me over this way... and naturally, your other game is excellent too! More of an arcade, highscore focus here. It looks like match gem puzzle by the cover, but it's not and I was pleasantly surprised that it a farm/cooking style game! Super addicting. Thank you for making them both.
