Ziggy Frog
Enjoy the simple life of Ziggy the frog as you help him catch flies on his log!
Controls:
- Use Z to charge the vertical power of your jump.
- Use Left and Right to charge the horizontal power of your jump.
- Use X to do one last jump and exit if you're all done playing :)
Eat flies at the peak of your jump! Each fly will give you more jumps!
There are different levels of difficulty for whatever you think seems most fun, along with a "Lazy" mode with an infinite number of jumps, if you're just looking to relax and catch some flies.
Based on a goofy mechanic my kid and I worked on together, I took some extra time to give it some polish and finish it up.
Enjoy!
Update 3/19/2021:
- Added jump power/direction UI to better show how high and which direction you'll be jumping
- Added shrinking circle that better shows when the frog will eat a fly
First time I played this on my laptop I quit right away because it seemed impossible. I came back to it later on a USB nintendo controller and almost had the same experience.
It's actually pretty fun once you learn the controls. It's satisfying getting the timing, angle and height just right on feel with no HUD. I learned to wait until the fly stops moving to make it a bit easier. I guess the sound cues function as a height indicator, which is cool.
If I had one suggestion it would be to begin on Easy and make the catch hit box and height needed more forgiving to start. It's too difficult on lazy to even get a fly on your first few tries. I'm glad I came back to it, and I like the challenge, but I almost gave up before giving it a chance.
Graphics are great.
Not sure the controller is needed; It's probably making it harder because the D-pad on mine is terrible. My high score is 2 fly's on Normal as of this writing, so I'm going to see if I can get to 5.
this game is really fun and relaxing! I appreciate the simplicity of it as well as the focus on creating a riverside atmosphere. my only suggestion is make it clearer that the player only eats at the peak of their jump, took me forever to find that out bc I was on splore so I didn't see the description. aside from that this is a really blissful & fun nugget of a game.
