Cart [#54614#] | Copy | Code | 2018-08-02 | Link
7

Simple little cart that tries to load random IDs from the BBS. Try something new. When you've had enough of a cart just select "new cart" from the pause menu. The number in brackets is the ID of the current post it has loaded.

Sadly though I'm seeing weird behaviour with that when I run through the BBS. It doesn't seem to display the correct number when you run this in browser, but it's correct when I run it locally. Sorry about that I have no idea what's going on there. But if you run it locally and want to find the thread the cart you're on is posted to just plug the number in here:

Please post the best and/or oddest carts you find!

Add an option to the menu to "copy cart link" or similar so we can link carts we find!

Yeah, or at least just display the cart number in the menu so we can find the cart again ourselves in the future!

This is very cool - nice one! :D

I LOVE the mini/fake-cart thumbnails
(Do I spy the bottom of SCUMM-8 at the top there? Yay!)

I've been planning to make a "home/personal" BBS cart, with a cart thumbnails to my games/demos for AGES, but keep forgetting about it. Seeing cool stuff like this reminds me I really should pull my finger out! ;o)

There's very limited options for what one can do when loading another cart so I couldn't add anything to copy the link, but I did change the breadcrumb text in the menu to display the ID of the current post it has loaded in brackets. Should have had that from the start, thanks for pointing it out.

Edit: It seems the ID displays incorrectly when running the cart in browser. That's quite annoying. Not exactly sure what's going on there but I did previously notice some different behaviour in load() when using it in browser versus locally - when you select "new cart" in the browser you can see that execution of the current cart continues for a moment and this doesn't happen locally. I'll see if I can get a workaround going but having to upload it to the BBS just to test is quite annoying.

Edit: Sometimes when running through the BBS it also seems to load a game for a split second before quickly changing to another game, which is probably related.

this is so cool!

were you inspired by this (by ultrabrite)? https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=54408#p54408
or did you just both come up with the same neato idea at nearly the same time? :D

Oh whoops! Didn't realise I was beaten to the punch on this by a week. Making the art was still fun though.

ha ha, I'd say this was a pretty interesting result.

"Pico-8 Star Wars intro" except it was intended to be displaying the boot logo, not this...

This is really cool! The strangest one I found was some quiz testing your knowledge on Japanese calligraphy.
