After exploring some C64 games I found a 2016 production called "Guns 'n' Ghosts" from Georg Rottensteiner & Trevor Storey witch I immediately fall in love with. It's a very arcade Bubble Bobble-like game with zombies and guns, you can play a character equipped with a double barrel shotgun you reload one cartridge a time by standing still.
This mechanic of gameplay remind me the something about the first Doom games with the same type of shotgun and satisfaction with reloading animation I felt back in the early nineties.
So one week end I started this as a Pico Guns 'n' Ghost version. Eventually it turns into something else but with this core reload mechanic and zombies off course.
Very fun! Animations are fantastic, and the crunchy shots are so satisfying.
I love how satisfying the gamefeel of this one is. Super juicy!
i keep dieing in exactly the same place - in the water in the spore level while attempting the jump over to the end ... am i missing something ?
yes thats the exact place - i just seem to fall in the water every time even though im trying to jump across ...
So the wall jump mechanic could be improved I guess. For now you have to push left against the left wall and wall jump before reach water then push right. I admit it's a bit tricky, you're right ;)
Argh! Got to part 9 and died! (Note: this was about my 10th go!)
It is tough, but then old-school games were tough. I am no fan of the wall jumping section , but I am really enjoying this cart. It does have a real charm and I like the fact that I can't continue and have to start again. The 8 heart start is a real life-saver though.
Great presentation, great graphics, great fun!
