Horizon Glide
Battle through infinite isometric worlds in this arcade hover-ship shooter!
About
Horizon Glide is an infinite isometric arcade shooter where you pilot a hovering ship through endless procedurally generated landscapes. Navigate dynamic terrain, manage your ammo, and survive against enemy forces in this unique blend of exploration and combat.
Features
- Procedurally generated infinite worlds - Every playthrough is unique
- Isometric 3D perspective - Classic arcade viewpoint built entirely in PICO-8
- Dynamic terrain generation - From water levels to mountain peaks
- Combat system - Battle enemy ships while managing limited ammo
- Customizable world settings - Adjust terrain scale and water levels to your liking
Controls
- Arrow Keys - Move your ship
- X - Shoot
- Your ship automatically hovers above the terrain and jumps if elevation changes
Technical Details
I particularly enjoy pushing PICO-8 to its limits with:
- Real-time Perlin noise terrain generation
- Tile-based world streaming for infinite worlds
- Custom isometric rendering system
- Particle and Water effects
- Enemy AI with multiple behavior patterns
Development Status
Version 0.14 (Beta) - The game is fully playable! I have about 100 tokens left so I might add gameplay mechanics in a future update.

Made with love and lots of pixel pushing. Thanks for playing!
nice but not sure I get the combat system.
enemies are instantly turning toward the player and fight becomes just about who is going to break first.
Really cool and fun game! But I have to agree that the combat is very confusing.
Nice game, it was pretty fun to play for another episode of my Pico-8 Adventures, but it seems that the link to the game's itch.io page is dead and it redirects to an empty profile with 2 comments from 6 years ago.
@freds72 Thanks for playing! You're right that the combat feedback could be clearer. The enemies actually have an attack/escape cycle where they'll fire at you, then back off to reposition before attacking again. This pattern probably needs to be more visible to the player. I'll work on making their behavior more telegraphed in a future update!
@lastofavari Thanks so much for playing and for featuring it in your Pico-8 Adventures episode! Really appreciate you taking the time to make a video. And thanks for catching that broken link, it's fixed now. The correct itch.io page should be loading properly. Hope you enjoyed the game!
