Asteroids, but time only moves when you do.
How to play
Stay alive to score points. Destroy asteroids to score more points.
Controls
- Left/Right arrows: spin
- O button/Up arrow: accelerate
- X button: shoot
- Down arrow: wait
Tips
- Because your ship's engine is always running, time will still advance when not pressing any button (albeit slowly)
- While bullets don't wrap around the screen, it is possible to shoot yourself if you're not careful
- You can use your cannon's recoil to get yourself out of tight situations
- You can make time go normally without inputting any commands by pressing the down button

About
This game is the first I made with Marave Goyave, a game collective comprised of @Scotaire, @PBES-studio and me, during a private game jam. It was made in 48-ish hours around the theme retro arcade game with a twist.
Great game!
A clever twist on one of my favorite classic games, and the game feel in this is so good, so punchy. Great work
Died within 2 seconds by running into my own shot - 10/10 experience.
Loads of fun with plenty of opportunity to be very funny.
I made a mod that saves gifs automaticly if you watch the whole replay. (limited to 16 secs i think)
explination:
I don't need my roids getting ANY hotter, thank you. I'm old, they're hot enough.
All jokes aside, I rather enjoyed this take on the game, though I feel it does ramp up quite quickly. I don't think this needs silly things like upgrades BUT...the original game had a Hyperspace feature, which was like a 'gamble on a death' mechanic, typically...i.e. I can't thrust or shoot my way out, i'm gonna die, hail mary HYPERSPACE!" push button and then you'd appear randomly somewhere else, sometimes good, sometimes bad.
Anyway, I have fun with this one. I'm not sure how to 'improve' on the experience..too few enemies, it's boring, too many, it's too hard, and who's 'too' are we tooting on about?
I guess I just need practice!
EDIT: I also like the Toriibash-style inclusion of showing off the entire replay in realtime to show you just how silly your behavior looks to everyone else when you're dancing with your earphones in.
@TylerRDavis @yutsud Arthur Dent thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
@qwertyad1 Wow! didn't know you could do that, that's neat!
@hseiken I experimented with different mechanics: things like cooldown, different kind of bullets, enemies that chase you, etc... But it started to turn into a whole other game, while I preferred the simplicity of this version. I didn't know about the hyperspace mechanic however, it could lead to some interesting twists. Thank you for your comment and suggestion!
