I really love the graphics, however I have to gripe about the jump being short and jerky. I reccomend using a for loop (if that's even in Lua) for changing the Y position while jumping.
Oh ok I'm going to edit the code thanks for the feedback
Note: Once I make some bosses you'll need to use the air you exhale when you press (X) while Flying to damage the boss. This may be seen as lazy but I think It's just a change of pace.
As a note, I'm very inexperienced in coding games, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. As a few suggestions, the jump is quite jerky and doesn't exactly work with Kirby's weight. Secondly, if you hold up and mash X, you can just spam puff: maybe make it so you can only puff once, and once you do, you can't fly until you touch the ground. Other than those two problems, great game!
ok I'll try to fix the jerky jumping again but you were able to fly after exhaling in the original game (Kirby's Dreamland) so that might be a feature in the finished game due to you using the puff of air to defeat bosses.
I added an end to the scrolling on Glaciated Greens (Green Greens in the winter theme)
EDIT: Here are the names of the Kirby's Shortland levels vs. the Kirby's Dreamland levels
KSL Glaciated Greens, Fort Lololo, Iced Islands, Alp Dedede
KDL Green Greens, Castle Lololo, Float Islands (Bubbly Clouds I'm not going to make), Mt. Dedede
Hey, it's Mr. Nitpick back, and I wanna say that the jump is too high, maybe somewhere in between the previous and current heights.
So basically I updated it.
and added quite a bit to this post (not comment).
Examples of improvements: adding a squished sprite for when you bump into a wall, updating the jump to not go more than 3 blocks, and using different sound waves to make the music more varied or something instead of always having square, pulse, triangle, and noise sound waves.
just saying but the main goal of this is to show off the potential of Kirby on PICO-8
Spraypaint! Now you can look like Shadow Kirby (Mirror World Kirby)!
EDIT: to use spraypaint select up when on the menu it will look like this:
