Yep, saw it in a tweet and used it with credit in the source (link to the tweet/creator's name).
Tweetcarts are part of what made me want to experiment with pico8!

It's hard to tell the timing in this. You might have a meter that rises (and quickly !) if it reaches the top (or across the screen horizontally) then that means the opponent wins that round and the player was not quick enough to draw their gun in time.
Also there is no animation for opponent winning. Could do likewise as player and show gunshot and/or explosion as you are doing now.
Should have more than one life. Perhaps 3 or so. If you have a whole bunch of opponents, maybe win a bonus life every 4-levels.
Could change background too every 2-levels, even if it's just a palette swap, something different to signify how far the player has come.
