My first attempt at a PICO-8 game, so go easy on me. I think it worked out quite well for a learning exercise, though. Thanks for trying! :-)

Yes, indeed. This is good. Here is the original Space Invaders and you can see and hear some of the differences in it.

You can see in the original Space Invaders that all the invaders in fact run at the same speed. The only reason the less there are they run faster is because the original game moves them one at a time.

If you had just started a level, then you can see the original moves each invader individually. Once you are down to one, the system need only move it. And subsequently the deep four thumps speed up as well.

A bit of nostalgia, you can see the planet background in the game. That is actually at a 3-dimensional tilt using a mirror and a special type of black light (called blue light). The starry background is a kind of paper tube that encompasses it.

Using colored films on the screen you can get color to appear as the original was truly B&W only.
