I'm curious if there are plans for a "devkit keyboard" ability for p8? It would make it feel more like a microcomputer than a console, but I think some very interesting stuff could be made that involves text input.
tbh I don't think zep would ever allow full keyboard input.
You could always use the mouse to do something like this tho:

I actually saw a pico-8 cart somewhere in the list that handled keyboards. And it actually worked with mine here. Wish I could remember what it was called, It was brilliant.

I dropped hints a while back for exactly the same thing ("devkit keyboard" - to match the "devkit mouse" we already have).
Unlike the mouse input, I can see it might be quite tricky to add (assuming Zep even wanted to) - as we already use the keyboard for player input. So there would need to be a mode switch from gamepad/full-keyboard control.
Either way, I'd be very interesting in this feature.
(Imagine all the crappy Text Adventure games we could make! :D #lol)
Yeah, I'd like to see proper input support in devkit mode. No keyboard and no scroll wheel are very limiting for writing tools. :/
well, that's all pico-8 needs to be a fantasy retro personal computer. it's some kind of backwards C64GS right now.
