An homage to the classic Bonnie Tyler song Total Eclipse of the Heart, and its goofy, gonzo, drama-rama music video.

Now very slightly interactive: press x to...turn aroooooooound.

Other than that, just the music looping and a few thematic animations I hacked together. The arrangement is a rough -- there's a bunch of expression tweaking especially in the first half I haven't bothered with, and it has room for another channel worth of instrumentation on most patterns -- but I've already spent more time on it today than I had meant to, so I'm gonna stop here and share.

Honestly, add the ability to turn around and it will be a finished cart!

Beautiful :') Surprisingly long song, too! Let me move the character from center stage by a few pixels and that'll give us something to do while we listen to the rendition (because it's worth listening to)

I was going to also say I kept wanting a QTE to turn around

Y'all are so right about the turning around thing; I've updated to include it. No QTE prompts, just free form turning-around, which feels more in line with the dreamy free-spiritedness of Bonnie's video.

If I have it in me to do an actual walking animation for her, it might get more interactive still, but 2*4 sprites eat up a whole lot of sprite sheet quick so we'll see.

Now, I love it even more than before!

I don't really need walking, but if you want to cheat, you can always enlarge the sprite to not show the legs (make it kinda 3/4 shot) . Then just move it up and down a little when "walking."

You can also use that with some procedural generation (and maybe few more random sprites) to make a dreamlike environment in which to walk and turn around.

Yeah, Level27Geek, I'd say that, whatever the particulars of implementation end up being, that's where I'd like to go with it if I put more work into it. Just a dreamy, randomly-generated wander through the odd maze of the music video's school. Take it from static looping tableaux to something more along the lines of a Flying Toasters screensaver, ballad style.

How about adding a score bar? The more in sync you turn around, the more you get points.

Seriously, this is a great cart :)

Masterpiece.

Love it! I want more... 80's music video demake jam?!

Good one... got here from Garkov, which I got to from Avant-Garfield
