Robot Vacuum Simulator!
Hi all, first Pico 8 game here.
Controls
Use the arrow keys to move the robot around!
Rules
Clean up as much of the dirt as you can.
Don't forget to clean under the tables!
And avoid the cats - they love to ride on your back, but they slow you down a lot.
Pro tip - cats can't jump on you when you're under a table.
Behind The Scenes
So the idea for this game was "what's a simple game I can make, so that I don't get scope creep paralysis, and I can actually finish something?".
From there I thought of a vacuum sim where you have to avoid household animals, and it turned into this.
For me this game is more of a way to figure out what else goes into a game: menu, sfx, music, level design.
It's easy to think of a "cool game idea", but an idea does not a whole game make.
For that reason, I wasn't really aiming to make incredibly fun experience. I wanted to finish something...
Hopefully it's a little bit fun though!

You were expecting a collaboration but instead it was ME, TOBIO!

1.0.2

1.0.1
- Make 'press x to continue' use the x button and not the z button
I'm glad you like it! It was good fun putting those loops together.
Fun for a couple levels, some dust is frustrating to get when is under the furniture and you have to keep crashing on it to get it
Fun game! Got an error after the 8th and final level, but at least it saved the score.
Also, is getting 3 stars in level 1 possible? The requirements seem tighter than the other levels.
It is possible, 3 stars is 150 dust squares I think.
Definitely gonna look at that error D: thanks for the screenshot of it!
As far as crashing into the furniture to get more dust, I added that because there is sometimes a few pixels of dust by the sofa, and I felt it wasn't satisfying to prevent the player from vacuuming it up or something.
Thanks for the feedback though, it'll be good for me to think about that kind of thing when I make the next game
It would be funny if you could knock things off furnature when bumping into things
I thought about that! What I might do later is make an evil version where you have to break stuff, make a mess, and scare the cats
