Hey everyone,

Here's new video of Voxatron on the Voxiebox --- we used a better camera to record and as well moved to a higher quality display system, this is a monochrome test, take a look:

What do you think?

If people were interested we could try and pull out some specific levels to test out - just link to the level with the url if you can.

it looks soo good! thou the framerate seems a bit odd.
I have a question, is it possible to change the game pallete on the voxiebox? like using a gameboy pallete or other old consoles's pallete like atari?

Hi Kling!

Ah - this is not a video of realtime play. Actually was done a while back before we had a playable demo and so i manually sat there moving the character one key press at a time and exported a volume at the command line for each of the maybe 500 frames. feels like 500 anyway. So that is where the odd framerate comes from!

That is a very interesting question about palette! I would say that theoretically yes that seems possible. Developers can mix the colors of the projector and as well do dithering so it should be possible to simulate various color schemes. If you are interested in testing things on a simulator you are welcome to sign up for the SDK at http://bit.ly/VXBXSDK - just leave a note that you are from the Voxatron forums

hi really impressed with your guys progress with this beast, i actually saw your attempted fundraiser efforts in oz and have been following you for a year or so. Its crazy everything worked out so you could utilise voxatron in the voxiebox. also dumb that you didnt get the funds that first time around with such a cool idea.

I havent done anything game making wise for awhile but using the voxatron engine id love to make games within voxatron for the voxiebox, my shizz is all platform 2d made in gamemaker so wouldnt make much sense in 3d.

i live in nz and was very interested in your arcade version but cant think of a bar that would suit it just now. maybe in the future though!

Hey Ladybug!

Yeah its really all come a long way - thanks for keeping up with us over the year! Have you seen the latest color test with voxatron? See http://bit.ly/VoxatronOnVoxiebox3

I am very excited by the Voxatron Editor being a way for people to make stand alone games for Voxiebox. If you want to send over a level you have made I can record video of it for you. Also I love your posters you've made --- if you want to send over the obj export files for some of them I can put them on a Voxiebox as well.

Please go to http://bit.ly/VXBXSDK and fill out the form with your email so I can share the Voxiebox Dev Kit with you - that way you can use the simulator to see what various 3D models/animations look like on the device without having to have the hardware.

Is there a local makerspace or university that might be a good home for a Voxiebox? We are looking to help get units into those types of places as well so that more people can work with them and share the cost of having a unit made.

Feel free to send me an email at [email protected]

:)

I attend a university with a large Arts and Technology and Emerging Media program and lots of people who would probably be interested in your project (myself included!). I can email you with more specific information if I can find whom I need to contact to make this happen.
