I can't figure out what numbers or data to input into the Facing modifier to get it to work. I am assuming that is how the water test boat was made. Can someone tell me how to get it to work?
Thanks

Here's the cart with the boat in it:

There are 4 main things needed to make this style of player:

  • The control style should be set to car

  • The turn speed (on the left side -- not the facing turn speed) should be something like 1.0. This controls the speed of changing the direction the player moves when pressing up / accelerate, and 1.0 means the player can do 1 rotation per second.

  • The other turn speed is under facing control, and indicates which way the player is visibly facing (and which way they'll shoot etc.). Setting this to 120 (the frame rate of the game), and using FACE DIR mode means the player will instantly face the way they are headed.

  • To make an animation that can face more than 4 directions, you can add extra intermediate frames by replacing each frame with another animation (see the boat for an example).

This scheme is a little complicated, but quite flexible when there needs to be a distinction between they way actors are headed and the way they are facing (think of R2D2 moving one way, but with his head swiveling around). I could probably do more work on making the interface clearer though, with an interactive diagram showing how the current settings will behave, or something else visual.

Thanks for the help!
