However, it is in very bad shape! Before I came in to help, it only had the main page and a very basic table of the enemies. Right now, I'm working on filling out bare-bones pages for the enemies, but we'd appriciate it if you guys helped out!
We don't know much about Voxatron. It's only been out 2 days. But hopefully, we can learn everything there is to learn and catalogue it in this Wiki! When it is updated with more features or when we make more sense of the editor, hopefully the wiki will grow.
I did a page for the Voxode level editor, but for now I've just copied the text from the readme file that comes with the game, and then formatted it to display properly on the wiki page.  Once I get time, I'll sit down and write out a proper one.
@Rammite Are you the owner of the wikia page?  If so, can you give me access to all of the tools, including editing the home page?  I'm studying interactive multimedia so I'd love to give the page design a go.
@LJRadio1000 This thread is about the wiki. Bug reports should probably be forwarded to Zep. A good place to post them would be  here, or in their own topic. It always helps to provide as much info as possible to recreate the bug -- Your OS, what levels you were playing, etc.
Would love to help but for a reason unknown to me I cannot access any wikia pages, images, or anything else hosted under a .wikia URL (connection timeout, server is taking too long to respond). This problem has been plaguing me for a while, if anyone here happens to know what might be the problem let me know. In the meantime I'm going to do some google-assisted detective work
Hey, the wiki is looking great. I put a link from the main BBS page to this thread to hopefully generate more contributions. I'll add to it too when things settle down.
I'm a bit late to suggest this, but would you be interested in shifting the wiki on-site instead? I could install some standard wiki software.
Have to shift the existing entries over
Have to wait a couple of days for me to set it up
Possible future features like cross-searching the BBS and wiki etc.
I think it's a great initiative and exactly what Voxatron needs. Especially for the ins and outs of using the designer.
Let me know what you think, I'm happy to go with either format but instinctively would like to move it on-site for greater future possibilities and because I find the advertising on wikia quite distracting.
I agree with Rammite, making the change now is the best thing to do. I still have the imges from most pages and the background and logo, so that should not be a problem.
Im really proud of this wiki as well.
We just have to contact Grumpychris0 (the wiki founder), hopefully he will agree.
I know, but the wiki will still be found on google. When I want info of a game "X", I google "X" wiki, I don't go into X's webpage to see if there is a wiki for the game.
Something similar happens to Team Fortress 2, there's an official wiki and the tf2 wiki.
And besides, being polite is never a bad idea. He created the wiki, so we should at least tell him the wiki is being moved.
Indeed, he could also tell us the official monster names.
However, it would be interesting if he didn't, and let the monsters have any name we imagine, after all, voxatron is a lot about creating stuff, and letting our imagination flow (and we could just use generic names for the wiki, like the ones we have been using).
Great! Cheers grumpy, and thanks for kicking it off in the first place.
I'm looking at a couple of wiki software possibilities. I'll keep you updated in this thread (there's a link at the top of the main BBS page).
I'm crunching for the next couple of days on vital BBS improvements and bug fixing, but will get to it as soon as I can.
Of course, I'll be glad to contribute to the wiki myself before too long. In the meantime I've enjoyed seeing the monster names you've come up with. The names I use internally are mostly silly, except that I quite like tinymon and multimon.
butamon, or sometimes basher
tinymon // little blue guy
The dragon has 60 HP, but only takes 1/4 damage to his body (so, 240 body shots)
@zep if it's not too much of a hassle, what wiki software have you been considering?
My main question though, was that since you've decided to move the wiki over to this site, how are you going to go about wiki administration?  I don't think you'll be able to monitor the entire thing yourself.  Perhaps some of the prominent users from the previous wiki?  just tossing this out as it's something you'll likely need to consider.
Also, since you mentioned BBS improvements... we need to be able to remove uploaded files!
I'd be glad to help out, although I certainly won't be able to do it alone, what with college finals coming up.  However, I take this sort of thing seriously, and I'll drop in whenever the opportunity presents itself.
On the actual topic of the wiki, did you have any special design planned for it @zep?  I'm sure you could make it work following the same theme as the rest of the site, but I think it might be neat to spike it a bit.  =]
The standard white wiki design ala wikipedia would probably be fine. That'd be the easiest thing for MediaWiki, and it'd also help since wikis are generally standard... Rather not change the interface too much.
I've got finals coming up too - 4 weeks, I think? Anyway, I'll still have quite a bit of time to dedicate to the wiki.
I would like to help out as well.
My Holidays are 2 or 3 weeks away (and all the time-consuming stuff is pretty much done) so I will probably have lots and lots of free time.
I'm okay with MediaWiki, I will have to get used to it but I am a quick learner and I enjoy figuring out stuff.
It seems reasonably flexible and able to reproduce most of the formatting on the existing wiki
I enabled image uploading -- there's an upload file link on the bottom left.
I couldn't find a nice way to duplicate lexaloffle bbs accounts, so you'll have to sign up again sorry! For now, I just set it so anyone who is logged in to the wiki is allowed to edit pages. If that becomes a problem we can fall back to explicitly ok'ing editor accounts.
Hey wait... The wiki refers to the level editor as "Voxode" for some reason, the readme refers to it as "Voxde", and the game itself refers to it as "Voxed". Which one is right? I was thinking "VoxEd" sounds correct... But now I'm not sure.
Aww. I tried to upload an image ( http://www.lexaloffle.com/voxwiki/index.php/File:Voxed.png ) and it gives me a PHP error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7056000 bytes) in /home/lexaloff/public_html/voxwiki/includes/media/Bitmap.php on line 362
Made a page similar to the wikia's Level Editor page. I'd like to think it's more accurate and slightly more complete (it contains sections for the editing area and the timeline, and mentions things change in the voxel editor, how could we forget that?), but not nearly as detailed yet.
The thumbnail on the page is File:Voxed.png, which works as a thumbnail only because I re-uploaded it paletted, but the history page gives the PHP error if you click on it, probably due to the older image being unable to generate a thumbnail at all. :(
